About

Our family physicians each work half a day a week at the Ridge Meadows Maternity clinic providing prenatal and postpartum/newborn care. We delivery babies together with the fantastic team at Ridge Meadows Hospital maternity ward (Second floor of 11666 Laity Street, Maple Ridge). Our group of physicians provides 24/7 call coverage for all urgent issues, births and newborn care. The physician on call on the day you go into labour, will care for you. Feel welcome to book appointments with all physicians to meet the whole team.

As needed, we will partner with obstetricians, diabetes educators, mental health professionals, public health nurses, and paediatricians to provide you with comprehensive care.

Dr. Barredo

Dr Barredo hails from Prince George and completed her family medicine training at the University of Oklahoma in 2018. In addition to her office practice at Mageta Medical Clinic, she serves as a Corrections physician at Alouette Correctional Centre. She gave birth to her 3rd baby on the maternity unit at Ridge Meadows Hospital and experienced our excellent care firsthand. When not busy working, she enjoys spare time with her family and looks forward to raising her 3 children in the community she serves.

Dr. Connor

Dr. Connor attended UBC for her undergraduate degree and medical school. She completed her internship in Victoria in 1992 then moved directly to Maple Ridge. She has been practicing at Dewdney Medical Group since 1993 and obstetrics has always been a large part of her practice. She cherishes the opportunity to walk with families during the most important and vulnerable time of their lives. Dr. Connor has received several awards for her exceptional work as a family physician including the Maple Ridge News A-List ‘Favourite Family Doctor’ award, Dr. Burns’ award, and BC College of Family Physicians award of excellence nominee. When not cuddling with babies, she enjoys spending time with family and friends exploring the world through traveling, cycling, hiking, camping and gardening in her own backyard.

Dr. Kok

Dr Kok completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2008. In 2013, she relocated to Maple Ridge and has been working in her Family practice since that time. She completed her Canadian board exams in 2016 and 2017. She has recently completed the Advances in Labour and Risk Management course provided through the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. She has a passion for breastfeeding medicine and completed further training through the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education in 2019. She enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 young children and dog Oreo. In 2021, Dr. Kok launched the Ridge Meadows Breastfeeding Clinic present at our location.

Dr. Konkin

Dr. Konkin attended UBC for her Bachelor of Science degree, moved to Ireland for Medical School at University of Limerick, then completed her Family Medicine residency at University of Saskatchewan in 2016. She worked as a full-service family physician, including Maternity care where she attended all the births of her patients. She is passionate about Maternity care and wished to continue working in this area when she returned to BC. She started working at Ridge Meadows Maternity Clinic in 2018, covering Dr. Loch’s Maternity leave. She loves working with the fantastic staff at the Maternity clinic and at Ridge Meadows Hospital and has chosen to join our team regularly. When not working throughout BC and rural Saskatchewan, she enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Dr.  Loch

Dr. Loch graduated from UBC Nursing School in 2002, UBC Medical School in 2009 and completed Family Medicine training in Chilliwack in 2012. During her training, she quickly discovered her passion for maternity and newborn care. She feels honoured to support women throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum (and has worked at Ridge Meadows Maternity Clinic since 2012). She enjoys advocating for better Maternity services in Maple Ridge. She enjoys advocating for better Maternity services in Maple Ridge. In 2021 she helped create the free RMH Prenatal/Birthing class taught by Maternity nurses to help women prepare for delivery at Ridge Meadows Hospital. Her hobbies include running, skiing, trying new recipes and enjoying family life with her 4 young children.

Dr. Marais

Dr. Marais completed medical school at Stellen Bosch, South Africa in 1984. He completed further training in Obstetrics in 1990 and has made Maternity care a large part of his practice since that time. He has a special interest in providing the following services: circumcisions and newborn tongue tie releases. His hobbies include photography, long motorcycle trips and other travel. He is very active in advocating for health care in Maple Ridge through his work for the Division of Family Practice and the RMH Hospital Foundation. He has been a well-loved Family physician to many patients in Maple Ridge for 20+ years and in 2019 was voted for ‘Favourite Family Doctor’ award in the Maple Ridge News.
